There is something on the deck.
It looks like...horse manure.

Why is there horse shit on the deck?

And can one of the cabin boys get up here and clean it up, please.
Now.

-OUT! [There are some violent noises in the background of the recording, since Vimes's natural reaction on being rudely awoken by naked intruders in his bedroom - well, any intruders, really - is to attempt to incapacitate them. Francis is just lucky there were no actual weapons in easy reach, so he just got punched.]

[Filtered to the Vicky]

[In tones of simmering fury, accompanied by the sound of Francis being dragged along the corridor by his hair]

The brig door had better still be attached, that's all I have to say.

[The sounds of running can be heard as well as Vimes' voice, which comes between pants - he's thoroughly out of breath from chasing mages around the ship]

I've got one of the bastards just about cornered in the corridor down to the han- [a loud crash] Shit! - hangar, that is - I don't think they can...oh, you bug-

[The remainder of the post has no speech, just the sounds of a sword being drawn and a struggle going on, plus more laboured breathing and a few crashes, and several frustrated gagging noises as Vimes tries to carry on talking]

((ooc: Silence trap, obviously, since someone doesn't look where he's going while chasing people~))

You two.

If I catch either of you harassing the passengers - or the crew - any more, there is going to be trouble.

Well, if we have leave, I'm taking advantage of it.

I'm not going to be on the ship while we're in Bellcius, unless you need me. Try not to need me.

Especially on Amicus.

Oh, and anyone who lets any of those animals get into my room will regret it. The door is locked and staying that way.

Is there something about high office that melts people's brains? There has to be something to account for the dizzying heights of stupidity that authorities reach all the damn time, even the people who seemed to have half a brain before they became officials.

Well, you seem to have done a good job of pissing off every man and his dog in Reial.

Please tell me you have some sort of plan for dealing with the fallout. I wouldn't want to think you're stupid as well as suicidal.

[ooc: because everyone has been demanding Where's My Cow since day one. Sybil has just sent Vimes a message telling him she can't get Young Sam to go to sleep anymore since Vimes left, and will he do the bedtime story over the journal so she can play it back plzthnx]

Oh, ye gods, if anyone hears this, I'm never going to live it down.

[All of the following is in an exaggerated talking-to-small-children voice, with over-dramatic animal noises]

Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "baaaaaa"
It is a sheep!
That's not my cow!

Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "neigh!"
It is a horse!
That's not my cow!

Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "oink! oink!"
It is a pig!
That's not my cow!

Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes...hm, what comes next? Oh yes, "cluck cluck!"
It is a chicken!
That's not my cow!

Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "hruuugh"
It is a hippopotamus!
That's not my cow!

Where's my cow?
Is that my cow?
It goes "moooo!"
Yes! That's my cow!
Hooray, hooray, it's a glorious day, for I have found my cow!

[Please do hack it, please do mock him XD]

I'm in Clairborne. I'll be waiting on the docks when you come in.

What repair supplies we need that aren't readily available are mostly on order - the bill is fairly hefty, but we should be able to afford it without too much trouble, unless the accounts are in a worse state than I'm aware of.
Most of the supply firms deliver, but they can't bring things in until they know which berth the ship's docked at, so there could still be some waiting.

Do you have things under control over there now?

If so, could someone find the time to fill me in on exactly what has happened, beyond what I've gathered from the network? What's the damage to the ship? How badly is the Captain injured? What about everyone else?

I'll come and meet -

[Voices in the background, he's slightly muffled as he turns away from the journal, talking rather impatiently]
What is it, dear? ...Yes, I know it's five to six, I'll be up there in a minute. Can I finish this first, please?
[Back to business]

I'll come and meet the ship in Claibourne. I should get there around the same time as you, if not before, it's further to Claibourne from Bellcius but I won't be travelling on a damaged ship.
Let me know how bad the damage is and I'll get hold of supplies for repairs and whatever else you need when you dock.

Hmph.
Now I've got time (more time than I might want...) to actually think about this...
I'm not doubting the legality of it, but that doesn't necessarily make it right. And the idea of attacking a ship that's already in pretty dire straits doesn't sit all that well with me. At the same time, though...it makes sense to get rid of them when they're not in a position to fight back.

And I can see from some of the comments to the captain's journal that plenty of people are objecting. I do hope they realize he's not going to listen - and exactly how fine the line between raising leji legitimate objections and insubordination or even mutiny can be. This could turn out very nasty.

Part of me thinks I'm well out of it, and I'm certainly grateful to the Captain for giving me leave, but...I should be there. Damn it. If this all goes wahoonie-shaped, I don't want to be back in Bellcius not able to do anything.

[Filtered to the Victoria II]
Good luck, then.

And for gods' sake don't anyone do anything stupid.

Since we're in Bellcius, I'm going home for Lunansa.

If you need me for something, get Hijikata to do it. He seems to enjoy making work for himself, anyway. And I do outrank him, so there's nothing he can do about it, even if he doesn't like it.
If you really need me, give me a call on the journals. And face the wrath of Sybil.

Happy Lunansa, everyone. Have fun.

Well, we're finally under way again. I don't usually have a problem spending a while in port, but this time we're going to Bellcius.
Home.
Sybil.
Young Sam. I bet he's grown, I wonder if he's talking yet?

The Captain better give us at least a few days leave in Bellcius. Probably won't, though, Lunansa or no Lunansa. Bastard's work ethic is inhuman.

[Strikes only slightly less hackable than the rest]

No. I am not going anywhere near that damned party.

[Private - easily hackable]
One of the few good things about being away from Sybil is that I DON'T get made to wear a suit.

I'd have thought a Vohemaro would know better than to use the phrase "impervious to attack".
Especially about a metal box, travelling unarmed, overland, in Vohemar of all places.
